Fair Lawn Boy, 9, Dies After 'Sudden' Battle With Pneumonia

Theodore Stell's departure 'leaves a big hole in our hearts and our lives,' his aunt said.

FAIR LAWN, N.J. — A 9-year-old has died after a sudden battle with pneumonia, his family says.

Theodore Stell died Feb. 27, said Valerie Stell Bouton, his aunt.

Stell's aunt said that although he "had a rough start in life" due to a lack of oxygen when he was born, he taught his family a lot.

"With the love of his parents and of many of his team of supporters, he fought through and showed us what it meant to push the limits of what is possible, be resilient and inspire immense love," Bouton said.

A Go Fund Me campaign has been set up to help the family pay for funeral arrangements, a memorial and medical expenses associated with Stell's care.

More than $4,800 has been donated since the campaign launched Thursday. The goal was to raise $3,000.
