Fair Lawn Deli Fire 'Quickly Knocked Down'

The fire at Giovanni's Deli was under control within 25 minutes of the department's arrival, officials said.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — Fair Lawn Fire Department officials responded to a fire at Giovanni's Deli on Sunday morning, quickly controlling the blaze.

The department was dispatched to 22-08 Morlot Ave. at 8:50 a.m. Sunday, and discovered heavy smoke and fire showing through the roof vents, officials said.

Fire was discovered in the kitchen, and it had spread into the deli's ductwork, officials said. But the fire was "quickly knocked down," officials said, with firefighters controlling the blaze within 25 minutes of arrival.

The department shared photos of the fire on Facebook, which they credited to Dawn Bernabeo and Boyd A. Loving.

Though the fire was contained, TapInto reports that it came at the worst time, as Gio's was planning to expand their hours this week.
