Fair Lawn Pizzeria Employee Assaults Boss With Spatula: Police

Breaking: Danaury Rodriguez, 39, was charged with aggravated assault.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — A local pizzeria employee was charged with aggravated assault after he reportedly hit his boss with a metal spatula Wednesday night, police said.

Police responded to Biagos Pizzeria at 23-14 Fair Lawn Ave. just after 9 p.m. on a report of an assault, said Sgt. Brian Metzler.

The pizzeria's 51-year-old owner told police that he told an employee, Danaury Rodriguez, 39, of Paterson, that he had to clean, Metzler said.

The two argued and Rodriguez allegedly hit the owner in the forehead with the spatula, injuring him, Metzler said.

Rodriguez was charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon, police said.

Rodriguez was released on his own recognizance. He was due to appear in Bergen County Central Municipal Court Thursday morning, Metzler said.
