Fair Lawn A Top 25 Small City In America: WalletHub

Fair Lawn is one of two New Jersey small cities to be among the 25 best in America to live in, according to the latest WalletHub study.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — Fair Lawn is the 24th best small city to live in the entire United States, according to the latest study from WalletHub.

The borough is joined by one other New Jersey city, Princeton, in the top 25 on the list. Sammamish, Washington, Carmel, Indiana, Brentwood, Tennessee, Lexington, Massachusetts and Reading, Massachusetts make up the top five.

According to WalletHub, the team of researchers tasked with creating the list compared 1,322 cities across five areas:

  • Affordability
  • Economic Health
  • Education & Health
  • Quality of Life
  • Safety

Those five metrics were then graded on a 100 point scale, with a score of 100 representing the best possible result. The highest total score was 72.55, attained by Sammamish. Fair Lawn received a score of 69.31.

But those categories were also ranked individually, meaning that where Fair Lawn ranks in the areas of affordability and economic health, for example, are ranked against other small cities.

The sample includes cities with a population between 25,000 and 100,000, and considered only the “city proper” in each case, excluding cities in the surrounding metro area.
