Fairview Man Sexually Assaulted Child: Bergen County Prosecutor

FAIRVIEW, NJ — A Fairview man was charged last week for sexually assaulting a child, prosecutors said.

Elder G. Mimbela-Portilla, 59, was charged on March 11 with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child, said the Bergen County Prosecutor's office.

Prosecutors said that on that date, the Fairview Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding alleged sexual assaults of a juvenile that had occurred in the past.

An investigation determined that Mimbela-Portilla assaulted and endangered the child more than once between Nov. 1, 2017 and Nov. 21, 2021.

He was arrested in Paramus and taken to the Bergen County Jail to await a first appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
