'Low Speed' Pursuit Leads To Charges In Fair Lawn: Police

A Bayonne woman led officers on a low speed chase from Fair Lawn to Paterson Wednesday, Fair Lawn Police said.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — A Bayonne woman hit an ambulance with her car before being detained by Fair Lawn police officers after a low-speed pursuit Wednesday.

Officers responded to A&M Medical Services at 8:10 a.m. Wednesday on the report of an "unwanted former employee on the property," police said.

Upon arrival, they approached the vehicle of Diana Payamps, 27, of Bayonne. Officers tried to speak with her, but she drove away as they approached, striking an ambulance in the parking lot, police said.

The pursuit continued "at low speeds" until Payamps stopped in traffic on McLean Boulevard at 4th Avenue in Paterson, police said. She was arrested and charged with defiant trespassing, eluding, leaving the scene of a crash and failure to report a crash.

She was later released.
