PHOTOS: Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno Tours Fair Lawn Business Monday
The lieutenant governor will tour American Fittings Corporation at 4 p.m. Monday
Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno visited American Fittings Corp./Edgewater Manufacturing at 4 p.m. Monday, as part of her "100 Businesses" initiative.
Guadagno has been visiting businesses across the state this year, to see how they operate and show her support for economic development in New Jersey. Monday's stop in Fair Lawn was No. 69 on her tour.
Guadagno was chaperoned through the Edgewater Manufacturing factory, located at 17-10 Willow St., by company president and CEO Allen Fischbein, vice president of manufacturing Dan Fischbein and Bill Simmel, the company's head of marketing.

Founded in 1946, American Fittings is a manufacturer of electrical conduit fittings. The company has two arms: American Fittings, which supplies directly to electrical distributors, and Edgewater Manufacturing, which sells to other fittings manufacturers.
American Fittings moved to Fair Lawn from Westwood in March. It could have relocated to China or down South, Fischbein said, but he wanted to remain in New Jersey.

The business has been growing rapidly and continues to hire, Fischbein said.
Guadagno said that American Fittings' success debunked the myth that manufacturers can't make it in the United States today, let alone make it in New Jersey.
Earlier in the day, the lieutenant governor toured SGS North America, Inc., an inspection, verification, testing, and certification company in Rutherford.
