Man Sneaks Into Bergen County Pool With Teen, Gets Stranded: Police

Police in Bergen County rescued a man who trespassed at the town pool and got stuck, they said.

FAIR LAWN, NJ — Police in Fair Lawn were called to the community pool on Sunday morning to rescue a man who had sneaked in after hours and become stranded, they said.

Police received a 911 call at 3:44 a.m. about a man possibly drowning at the Memorial Pool, said Sgt. Eric Eleshewicz.

First responders arrived to find the Paterson man on a platform in the middle of the pool, Eleshewicz said.

The man and the girl were issued summonses for using the park after hours, and released, police said.

Neither person was injured.

On social media, police posted a photo of the man with his face covered up (see below), and warned: "So if you’re gonna be a 23-year-old adult and trespass at Memorial Pool at least know how to swim. Anyway, thanks to our emergency responders who were able to get this young man to safety. This is our PSA, do not trespass after hours at Memorial Pool."

They used a song as audio called, "If You're Gonna Be Dumb, You Gotta Be Tough."

The Memorial Pool and Spray Park closes at 7 p.m. on weekends.
