SADDLE BROOK, N.J. — Family and friends of a 3-month-old North Jersey baby who died Friday after he was dropped on his head have started a memorial fund in his memory.
A family member babysitting Modzelewski accidently dropped him, NJ.com reported. He was "unconscious and unresponsive," Police Chief Robert Kugler said in the report. He was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center. He was placed on life support, but died shortly after noon Friday after his parents, Nicole Nicastro, 34, and Mark Modzelewski, 32, of Carteret, took him off life support.

Family and friends are working to installed a bench in Modzelewski's memory in Chrome Park or Carteret Waterfront Park. They also would like a tree planted in the parks.
"It is our hope that as the years pass and the seasons change, during which Reece's Tree will grow, bloom, and provide shade and shelter, while forever remaining a symbol of the gift of life — Reece's life," Alissa Cabrera Farese said on the Go Fund Me page started to raise money for the projects. "Although we are unable to bring peace to Mark and Nicole, we hope that this strong bench will forever be a reminder to them of their strength, as well as a reflection of our support for them and their son."
