Fair Lawn Man Dies After Being Hit By Car While Using Crosswalk
A Fair Lawn man was using a crosswalk before he was hit by a car Wednesday morning. He later died from his injuries.
FAIR LAWN, NJ — A Fair Lawn man was killed after being hit by a car while using a crosswalk, police say.
Fair Lawn police received multiple calls of a pedestrian hit by a car around 9:45 a.m. Wednesday. Upon arrival, they determined that Yuri Berger, 63, of Fair Lawn, was hit by a Honda driven by a 53-year-old Fair Lawn man.
Berger was "thrown into" the eastbound lane of traffic and became "trapped" under the front of another vehicle, which was stationary, police say.

Paramedics and Fair Lawn BLS attempted life saving measures on Berger, before transporting him to St. Joseph's Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
On Wednesday, police asked residents to avoid the area of Fair Lawn Avenue between River Road and 11th Street after the accident.

No other injuries were reported, and motor vehicle summons are pending, police say.
Fair Lawn Police are investigating, with assistance from the Bergen County Prosecutor's Fatal Accident Team.
