At a time when traditional butcher shops are becoming hard to find, Swiss Pork Store -- located on Fair Lawn Avenue in the Radburn Shopping Center next to CVS -- is thriving.

The shop sells not just pork, as its name would suggest, but also offers homemade European cold cuts and specialty sausage, kielbasa, bratwurst, knockwurst and weisswurst, liverwurst, bologna and franks, chicken, turkey, ham, salami, veal, steak, eggs, noodles and pasta, and an assortment of fresh salads, Lithuanian breads, rolls, sauces and desserts.

Its current owners, Chris and Steve Struble, have owned the Swiss Pork Store for much of the past two decades, but the shop has been around for over 60 years.

A local legend has it that when it first opened, the Swiss Pork Store had one German butcher and one Swiss butcher, but went with the name "Swiss" to avoid any World War II backlash.

Visit the Swiss Pork Store's website for more information on its history and products.
