Teen Pedestrian Struck by Car, Taken to Hospital

A Fair Lawn teenager was struck by a car near the Monday afternoon and taken to the hospital reporting pain throughout her entire body, said.

The car's driver, 32-year-old Narunzh Yakubova, of Fair Lawn, was making a left turn from 17th Street onto Morlot Avenue when she hit the 15-year-old girl in the Morlot Avenue crosswalk as she headed southbound, police said.

The teenage girl, who likely had been on her way home from school, complained of pain in her entire body and was taken by ambulance to Valley Hospital. Her immediate condition is not known, but police said her injuries were not life-threatening.

Yakubova, who was driving a 2012 Nissan Quest, was issued a summons for failure to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk.

Monday's pedestrian strike on Morlot Avenue and 17th Street occurred almost exactly one year to the day of another pedestrian strike at that same intersection. According to , a pedestrian was hit at the intersection of 17th Street and Morlot Avenue on May 6, 2011.
