City Green is a non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating the establishment of urban farms and gardens in northern New Jersey’s cities to create increased access to healthy, local food while cultivating education in food systems, nutrition, and the environment. City Green offers practical, technical, and financial support to community members of all ages to design, create, and manage these urban green spaces. City Green promotes food justice and environmental equality through these greening efforts. City Green is headquartered in Clifton at the former Schultheis Farm. The property boats a beautiful view of the New York City skyline, as well as a greenhouse, recently restored farmhouse, and a large barn. City Green currently has 2 and a half acres of the property in vegetable production and grows over 50 varieties of produce to support a market operation and to further their mission of providing access to healthy and affordable, local, farm fresh food. City Green also has their own composting operation and bee hives. This Twilight Meeting will include a farm tour and discussion about City Green, a potluck dinner focusing on their farmers market incentive program: supporting small farms while increasing affordability for consumers.
Twilight Meetings are free to NOFA-NJ members and non-members may attend for $10, to defray the costs of the meeting.
