Yeshiva's Application Postponed

A yeshiva's application to expand its campus won't be heard by the Paramus Planning Board until at least January.

A representative for Yeshivat Noam, a Jewish school serving grades K-8, asked for another hearing in January at the Thursday meeting. The school needs to make further adjustments to its plans.

Yeshivat Noam is set to expand its Paramus campus at 70 W Century Rd. to a neighboring property at 50 W Century Rd. The new building at 50 W Century Rd. will house sixth through eighth grade, while the old building will house preschool through fifth grade children.

The Planning Board approved John Lama's application to realign two lots at 51 Helen Ave. One of the lots, L-shaped, is 19,000 square feet and wraps around another 5,000 square-foot lot.

Lama wants to turn the existing lots into two regularly shaped parcels. He needed a variance because the depth of the two new lots will be 120 feet, though 140 feet is required.

However, the proposed depth matches the other lots in the neighborhood. The board approved the application unanimously.
