FLEMINGTON, NJ — A Flemington business that teaches 3D printing and STEAM skills to children is among 500 small businesses nationwide selected to receive a $20,000 grant from the American Express Shop Small Grants Program.
The 3D Lab LLC, a STEAM studio offering 3D printing classes, workshops and events for kids and families, will use the funds to purchase additional equipment, inventory and software to keep pace with growing community demand — including summer camps planned for this season.
Owner Jessica Wallace founded the business after her son Victor developed an interest in STEAM activities, which she noticed were often solitary pursuits. The 3D Lab was designed to give children a way to engage with those subjects together. Victor served as her "creative consultant," advising on which classes and activities to offer.
American Express and Main Street America are announcing the grant recipients during National Small Business Month. The program distributed more than $10 million to over 500 businesses across the country, with each recipient receiving $20,000.
