Tom Kean Jr. joined a "MAGA" chant during a visit to Flemington-based Magna-Power Electronics, but video shows employees actually cheering "Magna." The high-tech manufacturer, which employs over 100 people locally, recently hosted Kean and the U.S. Commerce Secretary for a factory tour and press conference.
2. Hunterdon Community Farmers Market Celebrates Peak Tomato Season with NOFA-NJ Tomato Tasting on August 30 (town.news) — Flemington residents can sample dozens of tomato varieties at the Hunterdon Community Farmers Market's Tomato Tasting with NOFA-NJ this Sunday, August 30, at historic Dvoor Farm on Mine Street. From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., enjoy live music, local farms, food vendors, artisans, and a community-focused market that runs every Sunday through November.
3. Head-on collision on State Route 209 in Mamakating (newportdispatch.com) — A 36-year-old driver from Flemington was hospitalized in stable condition after a head-on collision on State Route 209 in Mamakating, New York on August 24. New York State Police say another driver and passenger were also injured, and investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the crash near Summitville Road to contact the Wurtsboro barracks.
4. How one man's 'crazy faith' built a Black cowboy legacy in N.J. (nj.com subscription) — A longtime horseman now living on a farm in Flemington has built Crazy Faith Riders, a Black cowboy club that brings horses from Hunterdon County into cities like Newark, Elizabeth, and Plainfield. His story traces childhood sacrifices, family moves, and a deep commitment to giving urban kids their first hands-on experience with horses and Black equestrian history.
