BMVSS creates New Technology for Artificial Limbs for Only $70

New Technology Creates Artificial Limbs for Only $70

Fort Lee, New Jersey – February. 5, 2014 – Excellent healthcare is
unaffordable for the common citizens of developing countries, especially those
who have lost a limb. Hence, Bhagvan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti, NGO
(BMVSS), provides artificial limbs, calipers, and other physical aids and
appliances totally free of charge to the most needy disabled people now in 27
countries. Besides providing the limb, BMVSS provides economic support and livelihood
through portable tea stalls to produce daily income.

Of course, they could not provide anything without the support of
donors.  With experts in the field from
both MIT and Stanford, BMVSS has managed to create its very own artificial limb
for a nominal cost of $70, as compared to $10,000 for a comparable limb in the
United States.

The founder of the organization, Mr. D.R. Mehta, a former chairman of
the Securities Exchange Board of India and the Deputy Governor of the Reserve
Bank of India (RBI) feels that this is an act of humanity that everybody should
take part in. “If it changes the world and brings light to someone’s life, a
mere contribution of $70 is simply peanuts,” he states.

16-year-old Vibhor Dhadda has been associated with the organization
since 2012 and has seen the struggle in person. An amputation causes the person
affected to not be able to walk, run, drive a car, or play any sport. Vibhor
Dhadda states, “Looking into the eyes of people at the organization and trying
to really feel what the amputees were going through was traumatic, and I knew I
could not go on with my life as usual.  I
had to do my part.”

Every person who donates at least $70 will be sent a video of the
individual receiving and being fitted with the limb.  Please consider contributing to the
organization by visiting jaipurfoot.org and donating for yourself or in honor
of another person as a gift.
