Preschool at Chabad Fort Lee Author Visit

Chabad Fort Lee Pre-k students enjoy a discussion with an author

In the Preschool at Chabad of Fort Lee Pre-K classroom we weave author studies into a variety of activities throughout the year. With each story we read, we discuss the title, author, illustrator, end pages, and dedication page. We write math stories throughout the year as well, using the children as the main characters and numbers as part of the story. In our Hebrew studies, the children write stories with each new letter discussed. By the end of the school year, there will be a story written by Pre-K for every letter of the aleph bet, using words that start with a particular letter, depending on the letter of the week.

Recently we enjoyed a visit from author Meish Goldish. Mr. Meish has written over 300 fiction and non fiction books and he writes poetry and original songs. Many of his books include science and math topics in a fun lively format to help engage children with the purpose of becoming familiar with vocabulary and skills. Mr. Meish spoke with the children about writing techniques and asked them questions about what they like to write about. In addition he read to the children from some of his big books. We look forward to another visit from Mr. Meish later in the year.
