Preschool At Chabad Fort Lee Is 'Working So Hard'!

Passover is coming. Our preschool is the place to be to prepare Jewish preschoolers for Passover.

At The Preschool at Chabad of Fort Lee we are having a great time learning about Ancient Egypt. We tried our hand at making bricks with mud and water just like the Jewish people did in Egypt. Our exploration of Ancient Egypt led to the wrapping of mummies, which are what explorers found while exploring inside the pyramids. The children wrapped each other up but the “mummy” was always too wiggley to keep his “bandages” on.

The children were fascinated with the pyramids and wanted to build one for the classroom. They all had to work together to place and tape the four sides together. We finished by painting the pyramid we made for the classroom. We used sponges to make rectangles on the bottom that reminded us of bricks and different brushes to paint the top.

We were excited to include a grape juice making experience into our classroom. First, the children explored the bin of grapes and noticed there were 2 colors of grapes: red and green. Second, the children tried to shmoosh the grapes with their fingers (although some grapes did make it into a mouth or two). After a bit, the children noticed it wasn’t much fun to shmoosh the grapes because it took a long time and it was hard to shmoosh the grapes individually by hand. It was explained that many wine makers used their feet to make the juice. Well, in seconds, we had several barefoot volunteers. When asked what does it feel like when you walk on grapes, the children replied with “cold”, “tickle-y”, and “wet”.
