2 Students Injured As School Bus Rear-Ended In Freehold: District

The incident on Thursday morning resulted in two students being taken to the hospital to be evaluated, school officials said.

FREEHOLD, NJ — Two Freehold Borough High School students were taken to the hospital for evaluation after their school bus was rear-ended by a recycling truck in Freehold on Thursday morning.

The bus transporting the students was stopped at a railroad crossing when it was hit, said Rebecca Policastro, spokesperson for the Freehold Regional High School District, which encompasses Colts Neck, Freehold, Freehold Township, Howell, Manalapan and Marlboro high schools.

"Two students did go to the emergency room as a precaution but thankfully there were no serious injuries reported," she said.

The accident happened on South Street in Freehold, according to a News 12 New Jersey report.

Photos posted by News 12 showed damage to the rear emergency door of the bus and damage to the front of the recycling truck.
