$250K-Winning Powerball Ticket Sold In Monmouth County
The third-tier prize is usually $50,000, but the person who bought the ticket opted for the Power Play, officials said.

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Someone's holiday season is about to get a whole lot brighter, after a Powerball ticket worth $250,000 was sold in Freehold Township, state lottery officials announced.
The ticket, purchased at the Stop & Shop 2812 at 160 Village Center Dr., matched four of the five white balls and the red Power Ball number drawn in the Saturday, Dec. 9, drawing, officials said.
The winning numbers for the Saturday, Dec. 9 drawing were: 25, 36, 37, 55 and 60. The Red Power Ball number was 06.

The ticket sold at the Stop & Shop, actually won a third-tier prize of $50,000, but the person who bought it spent the extra money for the power play, which multiplies the prize payout. Saturday's multiplier was 05, making the third-tier prize worth $250,000 total.
Another third-tier ticket worth $50,000 was sold in Essex County at the Partner Mini Market 2, 156 Hawthorne Ave., Newark.

The Power Play option doubles the second prize from $1 million to $2 million and multiplies all of the seven lower prize sets available in the game by the multiplier number drawn that evening, lottery officials said. The jackpot prize is not multiplied.
