MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — Five Monmouth County Vocational School District (MCVSD) high schools rank among the top 20 public high schools in New Jersey, including one that claimed the top spot, according to recent data from the NJ Department of Education.
These rankings are based on annual School Performance Reports that were released by the NJ Department of Education in May.
The state assigned each school a summative rating based on standardized test scores, student academic growth, graduation rates, absenteeism and other factors.
Here is where MCVSD high schools placed in the ranking with their summative rating in parentheses:
MCVSD Superintendent Charles R. Ford Jr., Ed.D. expressed his gratitude for the ranking to the Monmouth County Board of County Commissioners, the Monmouth County Vocational Board of Education and schools throughout the county.
“This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our teachers and staff and the support of the Board of County Commissioners,” Dr. Ford said.
“It also demonstrates the quality of education available at the many excellent schools and hardworking teachers and staff throughout the county.”
The state Department of Education does not assign rankings to high schools.
However, NJ.com used the summative rating given to each school by the state to rank New Jersey’s high schools from 1 to 358.
The state’s summative rating is intended to provide an overall picture of how a school is performing compared to other schools across the state, district officials said.
The rating is based on a 0-to-100 summative score calculated for each school using standardized test scores, student academic growth, graduation rates, chronic absenteeism and other factors.
