MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — Eighth-grade students interested in turning their passions into hands-on high school experiences are being invited to explore their options this fall through the Monmouth County Vocational School District's (MCVSD) Career Academy Information Sessions.
Whether students are interested in health sciences, biotechnology, law and public safety, communications, technology, or marine science, MCVSD's six Career Academies offer opportunities to explore those interests through rigorous academics and specialized programs of study.
The district's Career Academies are highly regarded, with several academies consistently ranking among the best in New Jersey and nationally.
These Career Academies are four-year, full-time public high schools where students learn alongside peers who share similar interests.
Students gain access to advanced coursework, industry-standard tools and technology, research opportunities, mentorships and real-world learning experiences that help prepare them for college and future careers, district officials said.
"Our students have opportunities to earn advanced academic standing, develop deep knowledge in a field that interests them, work with industry-standard tools and technologies, and apply their learning through research, mentorships, and other authentic experiences," MCVSD Superintendent Sean Meehan said.
"Just as important, they build the professional skills, relationships, and confidence that will serve them in college, their careers, and beyond."
The information sessions aim to give prospective students and their families an inside look at each academy's academic programs, school culture, student experience and specialized opportunities.
Attendees will also learn about the application and admissions process.
Students and families are encouraged to attend sessions at each Career Academy they are considering.
Eighth-grade students must attend an information session for the academy to which they apply, and MCVSD will verify attendance as part of the application process.
Students may attend sessions at multiple Career Academies while exploring their options, but they may apply to only one Career Academy.
Advance registration, which is required for all information sessions, is available through the MCVSD District website.
