2026 Recycling Superhero Naming Contest: How To Enter In Monmouth County

The contest has been expanded to include all sixth-, seventh- and eighth-grade students throughout Monmouth County.

MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ — Monmouth County's recycling superhero naming contest has been expanded to include all county students in sixth through eighth grade, the Board of County Commissioners announced Tuesday.

Earlier in the year, the board unveiled a new recycling education trailer and launched a contest to name its superhero.

Now, the contest has been expanded to include all sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade students in Monmouth County.

"We are inviting sixth-, seventh-, and eighth-grade students to bring our new high-flying recycling superhero to life through their own creative stories," Commissioner Director Thomas Arnone said.

"Through this creative opportunity, we encourage students to highlight the importance of recycling and share helpful recycling tips in a fun and engaging way," Arnone continued. "We can't wait to see all of the entries!"

All seventh graders who previously submitted an entry do not need to resubmit, Arnone said, as their original entry will still be considered.

Rules for the contest are as follows:

The county welcomes schools and community organizations to learn more about the recycling education trailer and request a visit.

"The mobile unit features six interactive gaming stations, where multiple people are able to play at the same time," Arnone said. "Each station includes custom-designed games that star our superhero and the importance of recycling properly and how small everyday actions can make a big difference in protecting our planet."

"We encourage schools and community groups to bring this experience to their next event."
