New Restaurant Escondido Brings Real Mexican Flavor To Freehold

Freehold NJ – Recently opened restaurant Escondido, brings a fresh modern take on Mexican dining to Freehold. The restaurant features an all new menu, a fresh guacamole and salsa bar and a fully stocked tequila bar, offering various flights of premium tequila.  Escondido is the latest dining concept introduced by Chefs International, Inc., which operates several popular area restaurants including Moore’s Tavern and Sports Bar next door, Baker’s American Bar & Grille, in Monroe, and the popular outdoor venues, 9th Avenue Pier and Wharfside Patio Bar in Belmar and Pt. Pleasant, respectively.

“We’ve converted many of our restaurants to reflect the changing tastes and preferences of today’s dining customer,” explains Bob Cooper, Chefs International President.  “Today, dining out is more about the experience and less about overflowing plates of calorie rich food,” adds Cooper, who notes that Chefs International also operated the previous Mexican restaurant at the site on Main Street in Freehold.

Escondido will not serve heavily spiced dishes generally associated with Mexican-American recipes. Instead, their mouth–watering menu selections are inspired by genuine and modern Mexican favorites – all light and healthful with a large dose of flavor integrating everything from the freshest fruits and vegetables, herb garnishes, fresh chopped salsas, individually prepared guacamole, hand cut meats and poultry and fresh seafood from local suppliers.

Escondido features the recipes of Executive Chef, James Avery who recently opened a similarly themed restaurant in Atlantic City and has served for two seasons as a chef on Gordon Ramsey’s Kitchen Nightmares.

“James and Miguel Gonzalez, our house chef, make a great team, as the focus is on fresh ingredients and complementary menu items,” adds Cooper, who notes that the entire wait and kitchen staff have been retained by the refurbished eatery.  “We’re thrilled about making Escondido the name for modern Mexican dining,” he continues.

Escondido, which translates to “hidden” in Spanish, features a more contemporary Mexican feel with its clean and contemporary dining environment and a wide array of premium tequila—some for sipping and some for mixing with their specialty margaritas, all prepared with freshly squeezed juices.

“We’re excited about the changes and believe people will appreciate the more authentic styling and modern menu options,” adds Cooper.

In addition to the new look and menu, Escondido will feature a local house deejay on weekends playing Latin rhythms and dance music.  The eatery will also be featuring flight nights, with specials on various assortments of premium tequila.
