FREEHOLD, NJ — Back-to-school planning is well underway in Freehold, with the school 2022-2023 calendar available to help parents and students prepare for the new school year.
Students return to school on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
The Freehold Borough School District is a pre-K through eighth-grade district with three schools, the Freehold Learning Center, Park Avenue Elementary and Freehold Intermediate School. Freehold Borough High School is part of the Freehold Regional High School District.

Here are some important dates for the new school year:
- First day of school: Sept. 6
- Thanksgiving recess: Nov. 24-25
- Winter recess: Dec. 23-Jan. 2 (schools reopen Jan. 3, 2023)
- Spring recess: April 5-April 16 (schools reopen April 17, 2023)
- Last day of school: June 22
