Bruce Springsteen Joins Ukraine Global Citizen Campaign

FREEHOLD, NJ — Bruce Springsteen, a Freehold native, has joined Global Citizen's Stand Up for Ukraine campaign, which aims to raise funds to assist Ukrainian refugees and vulnerable civilians directly impacted by the violence.

The Stand Up for Ukraine campaign was created to bring together artists, athletes, influencers and global citizens to use their voices in order to mobilize funding for refugees from world leaders, corporations and individuals.

Global Citizen's goal is to gather support on April 8 ahead of a pledging conference on April 9 co-hosted by European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

"The Stand Up For Ukraine campaign is asking world leaders and corporations to step up funding to UN groups like Education Cannot Wait, WHO, UN Women, and more, as well as GlobalGiving, which gives money to more than 30 grassroots organizations in the region," said a spokesperson for the campaign.

Other celebrities that have joined the cause include Billy Joel, Celine Dion, Ozzy Osbourne, Stevie Nicks, Stevie Wonder, 5 Seconds of Summer and more.

Currently, twelve million people require assistance as a result of the conflict in Ukraine, which began at the end of February. According to Global Citizen, over 6.5 million people have been internally displaced, with nearly 2 million of them being women and children.
