Candidates For School Boards File In Freehold, Freehold Township

Seven candidates filed for three spots on the Freehold Township school board; two filed for three spots in Freehold. Elections are Nov. 8.

FREEHOLD/FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Candidates have filed to run for seats on the Freehold Borough and Freehold Township Boards of Education.

In Freehold Borough, two candidates filed petitions this week for three full terms on the Board of Education:

  • Brent F. Costleigh, incumbent
  • Kimberly Wright, incumbent

In Freehold Township, a field of seven candidates filed petitions for three, full-term seats:

  • Renata Brand, Parental Knowledge Consent
  • Angela S. Barbella, Parents Have Rights
  • Elena S. O'Sullivan, incumbent: Educator for Education
  • Michael Matthews
  • Jennifer K. Patten, incumbent
  • Faith Edwards

In the Freehold Regional High School District, there are no seats open for either the Freehold Borough or Freehold Township representatives to the board.

The list of candidates, filed on July 25, will not be official until after Sept. 6, as candidates may withdraw from the ballot before that date. New candidates may be placed on the ballot up until that date if new offices are to appear on the ballot, as provided by the school board administrator, said Monmouth County Assistant Supervisor for Elections Cassandra Achille.

The election for school board members is held on General Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8. School boards have until Sept. 9 to submit a public question to appear on the Nov. 8 ballot, Achille added.
