Cecilian Music Club Presents 4th Annual Candlelight Showcase

The Cecilian Music Club Presents its 4th Annual Candlelight Showcase, a revival of a colonial tradition.

On May 21st,
2017, the Cecilian Music Club presented its 4th
Annual Candlelight Music Showcase, a revival of a colonial club
tradition, at the Unitarian Congregation church in Lincroft. The
showcase featured students of Cecilian Club members, performing
pieces from the Classical era and also showcasing composers with ties
to Vienna.

The students performing
piano solos were: Gray Barnum, Emily Gong, Benjamin Lin, Daniel Lin,
Gregory Lin, Jeffrey Min, Jonathan Min, Isabella Pruscino, John
Szumowski, Elizabeth Wright, and Rachel Yan. Isabel Postelnek and
Jennifer Brush played a duet for flute and piano, and Phyllis Cheng
and Elizabeth Wright performed a duet for cello and piano.

The teachers who prepared
students for this recital were: George Borisov of Colts Neck,
Jennifer Brush of Old Bridge, Bernice Cooperman of Freehold,
Marjorie Mollenauer of Colts Neck, and Marina Strakovsky of Rumson.

After the student
recital, Vyacheslav Gryaznov presented a lecture/performance on the
topic “Vienna: Classical Period and Beyond.” Mr. Gryaznov is a
member of the Moscow Philharmonic Society and is an
artist-in-residence with the Drozdoff Society. He has won
international competitions in Italy, Ukraine, Denmark, Georgia,
Japan, the United States, and throughout Russia.

The Cecilian Music Club,
founded in 1883, is an organization of teachers, performers, and
music lovers dedicated to the study and performance of classical
