FREEHOLD, NJ — Celebrate life as it used to be in Upper Freehold. The Monmouth County Park System will host Walnford Day on May 15 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Historic Walnford.

This family-friendly event allows visitors to explore the historic Walnford site, travel back in time to see the 19th-century gristmill in action, tour the elegant Waln family home and take a horse-drawn wagon ride.

Many demonstrations will be on display, including performances by the Magnolia Street String Band, who will play bluegrass music from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission and parking are free for the event.

Historic Walnford is one of the historic sites along the Upper Freehold Historic Farmland Scenic Byway, which spans 24 miles. The site showcases over 200 years of social, technological and environmental history through the Waln family.
