The Complicated Relationship Between Media and Violence
Producers of T.V., movies, music and games are promoting, violence and disrespect .CBS Programming a prime example.

The future of our children is at stake. Too many crazies have committed too many horrible acts of violence for me not to obsess about the society my grandchildren will have to navigate. The heinous atrocities that we have witnessed in the last 15 years must be addressed. We have to apply reason to the hype we are fed. Although there are many studies that say media violence does not influence our youth , others show a direct relationship between media violence and violent behavior.
I don't care about any of these studies. I care about the fact that I watched "NCIS LA" on CBS last night and the disgusting nature of the ridiculous plot motivated my writing this article. People were tortured, murdered for money and then their body parts were sewn together to form Frankenstein like creatures. To make matters worse, the four killers escaped at the end, leaving another body. The last closeup was of their latest mutilated victim. If we don't put a stop to this type of gratuitous violence, it will only get worse. There are several shows on CBS that deliberately sensationalize the killing of human beings. "Criminal Minds" and "Instinct" both deal with brutality and depravity in every episode. The writers imagine deranged psychopaths because violence is an excellent substitute for creativity. CBS has to be held accountable for the vitriol and violence that owners use to garner viewers. Media can't just preach. It's time to end excessive violence on T.V.
If you feel that every villain on Hawaii Five-O should be using automatic weapons and that mutilated bodies and depravity is acceptable viewing from 8 to 9 and 9 to 10 in the evening, do nothing. If I have given you reason to think about the programs young people are watching then start with CBS. Use this link to speak your mind. https://www.cbs.com/feedback/
