Filmmaker On Rwandan Romance 'Kinyarwanda' in Lincroft, March 30

On Sunday, March 30, the public is invited to a free viewing of award-winning film Kinyarwanda, followed by a discussion with director and New Jersey resident Alrick Brown.

In the film, set in Rwanda, a young Tutsi woman and a young Hutu man fall in love amidst chaos; a soldier struggles to foster a greater good while absent from her family; and a priest grapples with his faith in the face of unspeakable horror.

On a greater scale, the film presents the classic struggle of good versus evil.

The film won numerous awards including a Sundance Film Festival Award.  Brown is committed to "telling the stories of the voiceless."

Following the film, the movie's director will lead a discussion with the audience. 


Brown, who was born in Jamaica but  grew up primarily in Plainfield, NJ, graduated from both Rutgers and New York University; he currently teaches in the graduate program at Tisch Film School. The film and discussion will be at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Monmouth County, 1475 West Front Street, Lincroft at 6 pm. The event is free and includes light refreshments.
