Downtown Concert Series Presents Joshua Roman
This Saturday, Joshua Roman kicks off the next season of the Downtown Concert Series

This coming Saturday at 7:30 PM cellist Joshua Roman and pianist Andrius Žlabys will join forces in the opening concert of our 6th season to present a program of Bach, Brahms and Schnittke. Roman (a TED fellow) and Grammy-nominated Žlabys bring their international reputations and incredible energy to the Freehold stage.
“A cellist of extraordinary technical and musical gifts” (San Francisco Chronicle), Joshua Roman brings his wide-ranging répertoire to the Downtown Concert Series stage on September 26th at historic St. Peter’s Church at 33 Throckmorton Street, Freehold, NJ. He has earned an international reputation for his wide-ranging repertoire, a commitment to communicating the essence of music in visionary ways, artistic leadership and versatility. As well as being a renowned performer, he is recognized as an accomplished composer, curator, and programmer.
For his ongoing creative initiatives on behalf of classical music, Roman was named a 2011 TED Fellow, joining a select group of next generation innovators of unusual accomplishments who show potential to positively affect the world. “We’re excited to bring to our series an extraordinary musician who shares our commitment to connecting to audiences. He’s the new face of classical music - completely engaging and thrilling to watch” says Mark Hyczko, Artistic Director of the concert series.

Joshua will be joined on stage by Grammy nominated pianist Andrius Žlabys. Andrius has received international acclaim for his appearances with some of the world’s most renowned orchestras.
Tickets for the concerts are $25 and $10 for students 18 years and younger. A Season Subscription is available. Seating is limited and tickets should be purchased in advance. The concert will begin at 7:30 pm. A reception honoring the artists will be hosted by Investors Bank (21 West Main Street, Freehold) following the concert.
