Eat Your Exam at La Cipollina Ristorante Cooking Classes
This popular Freehold Restaurant trains us to succeed in the kitchen while we experience a fun evening

When a restaurant remains in business for 25 years, there is no doubt that the food is more than just good. What sets apart from other restaurants is that they are willing to share some of their secret recipes one or (due to popular demand) two Sundays per month from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The instruction at La Cipollina's cooking school will enable their students to create and eat six dishes comprising a specifically themed menu.
The school was originally started in the early 1990s but eventually put on hiatus. Owners Matt Higgins and Anthony Braica decided to reinstate the idea this October because of the popularity of cooking shows and the demand for new and exciting ways to spend an evening.
Located in the back room of the restaurant, the tables are set up “school style” to comfortably fit 20 to 30 “ La Cipollina Freshman.” The professor/chef is positioned table in the front of the room. Two members of the group are always invited to assist in the lesson.

There are three two-recipe sessions during the three-hour class. Between each session, Anthony and Matt provide entertainment such as musicians, singers and even , who performs magic tricks. The atmosphere is always lively and the aroma of great food fills the room to enhance the mood. This might be the only school where students are allowed to pack wine, beer and other beverages to aid in their pursuit of cooking acumen.
Men and women of all ages have graduated with honors from La Cipollina. Matt noted that he has taught many groups of young girls just out to have fun, as well as couples interested in learning and enjoying together. Tuition is $45 per person. Groups of six or more can attend for $40 per person.
