Facebook Post Claiming 'Killing Spree' A Hoax: Freehold Twp. Police
Freehold Township police posted assurances to residents that a Facebook post about two suspects on a "killing spree" was "unsubstantiated."
FREEHOLD TOWSHIP, NJ — The Police Department posted an assurance to residents late this morning that there were no robberies or shootings in town, after an anonymous post to that effect was brought to police attention.
"We wanted to make sure we got ahead of the rumor. The post came to us anonymously earlier this morning, " Det. Lt. Joseph Winowski said on Tuesday.
The Freehold Police posted this assurance to residents: "FTPD is aware of a post circulating on Facebook stating that 'two suspects are on a killing spree in Freehold.' This post is unsubstantiated and no robberies or shootings have occurred. There is no cause for alarm."
