The nonprofit's new facility is almost double in size and custom-designed to better meet the needs of neighbors and volunteers.

FREEHOLD, NJ — Freehold Area Open Door is set to reopen at a new, larger location in Downtown Freehold, the nonprofit recently announced.

Located down the street from where Open Door has been for almost 40 years, the new facility almost doubles their size and is custom-designed to better meet the needs of neighbors and volunteers, officials said.

“The expanded space is critically needed to support the organization’s tenfold growth in monthly families served,” Open Door said in an online post.

“Celebrate our move to a larger, new facility!” officials said.

The event will have food, entertainment and the opportunity to celebrate with friends and neighbors.

Since 1987, Freehold Area Open Door has been a trusted resource in the local community that’s since grown into a multi-service agency dedicated to addressing food insecurity, housing challenges and educational support.

The nonprofit’s programs include a client-choice food pantry, rental and utility assistance, after-school enrichment, college scholarships, and holiday food and gift distributions, according to their website.

These services are made possible through the generosity of Open Door's donors, volunteers and community partners.

“To date, we have served more than 350,000 people, and while we’re proud of that impact, we know our work is far from finished,” their website reads. “The growing demand for help makes it clear: we must continue to expand our reach and deliver support more efficiently than ever before.”

“Together, with our supporters, we’re committed to creating a stronger, more resilient community, where every neighbor has access to food, shelter, opportunity, and hope.”
