Freehold Area Schools Announce Delayed Opening For March 8
The districts made the announcement as the storm continues bring icy conditions to the area.

FREEHOLD, NJ — Students and staff in the schools in the Freehold and Freehold Township area will be able to sleep in on Thursday, as the districts in the area announced delayed openings on March 8.
The delays are a result of ongoing storm cleanup from Wednesday's winter storm that caused icy conditions throughout the area. Officials will be monitoring the weather and conditions in the morning.
In the Freehold Borough Schools, it is a 90-minute delay. The start time for Freehold Intermediate School is 9:40, Park Avenue Elementary is 10:10, and Freehold Learning Center 10:20. The rest of the day will be re-evaluated in the early morning, Superintendent Rocco Tomazic said.

In Freehold Township, it's a two-hour delayed opening. "If further modifications to the school day are necessary, another message will be sent in the morning," the announcement said.
In the Freehold Regional High School District, the delay is 90 minutes, with Freehold, Howell and Manalapan high schools starting at 9 a.m. and Colts Neck, Freehold Township and Marlboro starting at 9:55 a.m.

"We will continue to assess conditions. In the event of any additional change in schedule, we will utilize our web site, social media, and our automated phone system to alert our community," officials said.
