Freehold Boro Cops: Over 150 Calls To Police During Isaias

FREEHOLD, NJ – One week after Tropical Storm Isaias rattled New Jersey and left over 200,000 residences out of power in Monmouth County, officers from the Freehold Borough Police Department took to social media to brief locals all they endured.

During the peak of the storm and the aftermath, over 150 calls for service were issued to the department, including multiple 9-1-1 calls, 26 property damage calls, 24 downed utility pole calls, and 11 EMS calls. Freehold Borough police were also stationed in multiple areas of town, including six traffic lights, at one point during the storm.

“As always our officers rose to the occasion, and came in to serve the citizens of Freehold Boro, all while power outages and property damage was taking place at their own residences,” the department wrote in a post on Monday. “We want to thank The Monmouth County Sheriff's Department who on a normal day during this time answers about 2,000 911 calls for the county. On the day of the storm they answered over 10,000.”

The department also thanked the Freehold Fire Department and Freehold Emergency Medical Services, both of which aided the police department in removing downed trees and power lines.

“Because of the combined efforts of these emergency services we are still reporting 0 injuries/fatalities because of the storm,” the department wrote.
