Freehold Man Jailed Until Trial In Sex Assault Of Teen: Report

Authorities say the girl, 14, has autism; authorities allege David Buabeng took photos during the sexual assault, the report says.

FREEHOLD, NJ — A home health aide accused of kidnapping a 14-year-old Freehold girl and taking photos as he raped her will remain in jail until trial, a Monmouth County judge ruled Wednesday.

David Buabeng, 54, of Freehold, was arrested May 16 in connection with the incident, which Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni said happened May 14 into May 15. (RELATED: Health Aide Took Photos As He Sexually Assaulted Girl: Official)

Authorities allege Buabeng took the girl from a Freehold Borough convenience store shortly after 5 p.m. on May 14, drove her to an apartment in Freehold Township and sexually assaulted her and photographed her during the incident. He then dropped the victim off near her home on Tuesday morning, authorities allege.

Freehold police were called at 9 p.m. May 14 after the girl went missing and the following morning when she was brought home, Gramiccioni said.

Monmouth County Assistant Prosecutor Ryan Lavender told Superior Court Judge Paul X. Escandon that the teen, who has autism, told authorities she got in the car with him because "he sounded mean," according to a report on the detention hearing by the Asbury Park Press.

Buabeng, who works as a home health aide, has been charged with first-degree kidnapping; second-degree child luring; two counts of first-degree aggravated sexual assault, and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child for causing or permitting a child to engage in child pornography; second-degree endangering the welfare of a child for manufacturing child pornography, and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, Gramiccioni said. He is being held at the Monmouth County jail.
