Freehold Man Wins Half a Million Dollar Lottery Ticket

This Freehold man found out he out won the lottery when he stopped into the Village Center Drive Stop & Shop.

Freehold, NJ - One lucky Freehold man found out he out won the lottery when he stopped into the Village Center Drive Stop & Shop earlier this week.

Jeffrey Becker and his wife, of Freehold, were doing their weekly grocery shopping at the Stop & Shop when he walked past the Lottery desk at the store, where a sign was up announcing that a winning ticket had been sold there. That's the sign pictured below. Becker remembered then that he bought a ticket there. While his wife continued on to the back of the store, Becker dug through his wallet to look for his ticket.

He found it and the Lottery clerk confirmed the news: He had won. They claimed their ticket last Tuesday.

Becker's ticket split the jackpot, which was $857,650, from the June 25 drawing. The other jackpot winning ticket was sold from Herb’s Liquor at 194 Somerset Street in North Plainfield. So Becker will split the ticket with that winner, Mohammed Tariq of North Plainfield, to collect $433,825.

In a special twist, the store manager gave Becker the jackpot winning sign as he found his wife at the deli counter to tell her the news. A crowd around them grew and that's when she saw Becker holding the sign.
