Freehold Police On Florida Shooting: See Something? Say Something

A message from the police department distributed on social media and by email says police and schools are in constant communication.

FREEHOLD, NJ — Freehold Borough police had a two-part message for residents in the wake of Wednesday's fatal shootings at a Florida high school: 1. We are working to protect your kids, and 2. If you see something, speak up.

The message, distributed to the borough's municipal newsletter subscribers and posted to Facebook, said the police department is in communication with the towns' schools and constantly working to ensure effective security measures are in place.

"Training is done on a regular basis, and lines of communication between the school districts and our police department is constant," the message said. "Rest assured that the Freehold Borough Police Department and the school districts are doing everything possible to maintain the safety of all school students in Freehold Borough."

But police also urged everyone to speak up if there was something that seems suspicious.

"Lastly and most importantly, if you see something say something." the message said. "No matter how minor you may think it is, we would rather respond to a call that turns out to be nothing, instead of responding to a tragic call that could have been prevented."
