Freehold Township Schools Receive Nearly $15K in Donations

The Board of Education approved funds provide by PTOs and community groups.

Freehold Township schools will benefit from nearly $15,000 in donations for extracurricular activities and educational supplements.

The Freehold Township Board of Education approved the contributions during its meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 1 at the building.

Dwight D. Eisenhower Middle School received $1,500 from Caring Family Community Services to purchase three iPads for an autistic class.

Joseph J. Catena Elementary School received a $1,000 National Schools of Character grant for its participation in the Character Education Partnership. In addition, the Joseph J. Catena Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) contributed $1,400 toward a performing arts advisor, $3,000 toward three study skills advisors, and $2,000 toward two intramural sports advisors.

Marshall W. Errickson Elementary School received $6,000 from its PTO to go toward extracurricular activities: $1,000 for social skills; $1,000 for performing arts; $1,000 for the soccer club; and $3,000 for study skills.

“I would just like to thank the PTOs for all the extracurricular activities they’re supporting that we could no longer provide for through our budget. Without their help, we would not be able to offer these programs and we really do appreciate their assistance,” said Board of Education President Mindy Wille.
