Freehold Twp. Man Faces Drug Charges After Traffic Stop: Police

During the motor vehicle stop, police said they could smell the odor of marijuana, which led to the search that turned up drugs.

MANCHESTER, NJ — A Monmouth County man is facing drug charges after several drugs were found in his SUV during a motor vehicle stop in Manchester on Tuesday, police said.

Mark Sobroza, 39, of Hidden Stream Road, Freehold Township, was westbound on Route 571 near Maplewood Street in a red Ford Explorer shortly after 1 a.m. on Tuesday when Officer Jason Wiener saw the vehicle fail to use a turn signal and pulled the vehicle over, Capt. Todd Malland said.

While Wiener was speaking with Sobroza, he smelled the odor of marijuana, Malland said. After further investigation, Sobroza was found to be in possession of heroin, marijuana, Xanax, suboxone, and a suspected crack cocaine pipe, along with other types of paraphernalia, he said.
