Freehold Woman Charged With DWI In Wall Crash, Police Say

Wall Township police arrested two women and charged them with driving while intoxicated after a pair of single-car crashes that happened a little over an hour apart on Monday.

Bridget Wolff, 49, of Freehold, was charged with DWI after her car went off eastbound Atlantic Avenue and struck a utility pole about 12:43 p.m. on Monday, Wall Lieutenant Pete Lokerson said.

The impact broke the utility pole, bringing down power and phone lines, he said, forcing the closure of Atlantic Avenue for several hours between West 18th Avenue and Lakewood-Farmingdale Road in Howell until the lines were repaired. The road reopened about 10:30 p.m., Lokerson said.

Wolff was arrested, processed and released on a summons, he said.

A little over an hour earlier, Carla Perone, 42, of Spring Lake Heights, was charged with DWI after police responded to an accident at Route 71 and 18th Avenue at 11:23 a.m. Monday, Lokerson said.

Police found Perone’s car had struck a guard rail there, he said. There were no reported injuries. Perone was arrested, processed and released on a summons, he said.

Patrolman Thomas Dowd is the investigating officer.
