GMCC Gets a New Sponsor for Women’s Lifestyle Event

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, Sep 3, 2013: Greater Monmouth Chamber of Commerce (GMCC) announces that its upcoming Women’s Lifestyle Event has a new sponsor, Monmouth Medical. This event will be held on September 22, 2013.

On the day of the event, the first 150 pre-registered participants will be eligible for a special drawing that includes attractive prizes like ladies’ Coach Bag, a ladies Coach wallet & a 46-inch flat screen HD TV.

During the event, Monmouth Medical will be demonstrating and speaking about the following topic:

Da Vinci Surgical System -

This is a robotic surgical system developed by the US-based company Intuitive Surgical. This surgical system has been designed to facilitate complex surgeries that are controlled by a surgeon using a console. This is a minimally invasive approach. The system is commonly used for prostatectomy, and also increasingly for cardiac valve repair and gynecologic surgical procedures. According to the manufacturer, the Da Vinci System is partially called Da Vinci’ "because Leonardo Da Vinci invented the first robot", as found by Mario Taddei. Da Vinci also used anatomical accuracy and three-dimensional details in his works.

Da Vinci robot systems were in use at thousands of hospitals worldwide with an estimated 200,000 surgeries conducted in 2012. This system was mostly used for prostate removals. By January 2013, more than 2,000 units had been sold all over the world. The "Si" version of the system costs on average a little below $2 million, which is in addition to several thousand dollars of annual maintenance fees.

The Da Vinci System has been successfully used in the following medical procedures:

•    Radical prostatectomy, pyeloplasty, cystectomy, nephrectomy and ureteral reimplantation.

•    Hysterectomy, myomectomy and sacrocolpopexy;

•    Spleen-sparing distal pancreatectomy, cholecystectomy, Nissen fundoplication, Heller myotomy, gastric bypass, donor nephrectomy, adrenalectomy, splenectomy and bowel resection;

•    Internal mammary artery a blood vessel mobilization and cardiac tissue ablation;

•    Mitral valve repair and endoscopic atrial septal defect closure;

•    Mammary to left anterior descending coronary artery anastomosis for cardiac revascularization with adjunctive Mediastinotomy;

•    Transoral resection of tumors of the upper aerodigestive tract (tonsil, tongue base, larynx) and transaxillary thyroidectomy.

Monmouth Medical will have this robot on display at the vendor table stations. The link below further describes the machine and its abilities:
