The snow is still falling in some areas, but reports are coming in to the National Weather Service of snow totals. Freehold received about 5 inches of snow, based on reports from neighboring Howell and Manalapan, which both reported 5 inches on the ground.

Officials are urging motorists to stay off the roads as much as possible to give crews more time to clear them, and when you do go out, exercise caution. Salt has been applied but with temperatures in the teens, it will not melt he remaining snow as easily, because it only raises the temperature 10 to 15 degrees.

Temperatures are not expected to rise above freezing today, and are expected to drop again tonight, possibly falling into single digits, which will turn anything that has melted into ice.
