FREEHOLD, NJ — The Juice House, right off Main Street in the borough, is celebrating its first anniversary. And owners Jaclyn DaSilva and Danielle Perrette are hoping to bring some healthy drinks and fun to town at the Sunday afternoon event.

The store will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. Aug. 14, and will offer 10 percent off all items except "grab-and-go" orders, said DaSilva. It is located at 31 E. Main St., in the Plaza, Suite 7.

There will be a spinning wheel with other discounts and prizes and music, provided by none other than DaSilva herself.

"I'm a DJ, too, and I'll be bringing in my speakers Sunday," she said with a laugh.

Perrette and DaSilva had a business in the hospitality staffing area, DaSilva said.

But with the pandemic, that business wasn't viable.

Putting their interests in health and hospitality to another good use, they decided to buy into the Juice House franchise. she said.

"We decided to pivot with COVID to supply health and wellness," DaSilva said of what she termed a "forward-facing" business. The CEO of the franchise is Arielle Cassidy, who uses her master's degree in nutrition to focus on health and wellness in serving customers, the franchise website says.

And healthy comes in all varieties.

The most nutrient-packed item on the menu is the Green Monster, she said. It's made up of primarily greens: celery, spinach, parsley, cucumber, kale and lemon. But be forewarned - "It's not sweet!" she said.

But there are fruit-filled, sweeter drinks and also a variety of five "shots" for a quick energy or immunity boost. One shot is a "major detox," DaSilva said. It's made of cayenne, garlic, ginger and lemon.

And a healthy juice may just hit the spot as you explore downtown Freehold.

Freehold Borough is hosting a public art installation - the Horse Walk. Visitors can see how local artists painted 12 horse sculptures, mounted on pedestals, and can vote on their favorites. The Horse Walk extends through the heart of Main Street.

And the Downtown Freehold organization has events going on all summer, including concerts, music in the gazebo and movies.
