Knife Fight In Durand Park Sends 2 To Hospital: Freehold Twp. PD

FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — Two Monmouth County residents are facing charges following a knife fight in the parking lot at Durand Park on Friday afternoon, Freehold Township police said.

Police were called to the parking lot at Durand Park on Randolph Road at 3:33 p.m. Friday for a fight involving a knife and found the two — Russell Derector Jr., 19, of Sea Bright, and a 17-year-old male from Marlboro — bleeding, Detective Lt. Scot Hall said.

Both sustained injuries that were not life-threatening and were taken to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, where they were treated and released, he said.

Derector was arrested and charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, aggravated assault and harassment, Hall said.

The 17-year-old was charged with possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, unlawful possession of a weapon, and terroristic threats, he said.

Freehold Township police secured the area and found there was no further threat to the community.
