Local Pool Company Spotlighted in NY Times article and TV feature on Inside Edition

Central Jersey Pools interviewed about pool shortages during COVID-19

June 10, 2020 (Freehold, NJ) – Central Jersey Pools, recently featured in a NY Times article and a TV feature by Inside Edition, brought to light this summer’s pool shortage due to the pandemic. Many homeowners wanted to get a jump on the season and come up with their own personal backyard oasis, what with so many summer camps, schools, fitness centers and community pools shut down for the last few months and counting. As a result, coronavirus has spurred a run on backyard pools as people search for ways to beat the heat.

However, a pool shortage has surprised everyone – even local pool installation companies like Central Jersey Pools. Owner Steven Metz, facing an abundance of requests with not enough supply – or time – to meet the demand, was interviewed on Inside Edition on June 5 saying pool sales have tripled this season for his company. This is something he says he has never encountered in his 63 years in business. The result? He’s completely sold out. The wait for above ground pools is at least mid-July, with the wait for inground pools being much longer.

Additionally, Metz was interviewed on June 3 by the NY Times about what people are doing to spend their summers closer to home. With so many vacations put on hold and resorts closed, people are desperate for a spot to keep cool and entertained while they wait out the pandemic. People are finding themselves with more money to spend because they’re not paying for expensive summer camps or vacations. They’re looking for backyard pools, but companies like Central Jersey Pools simply can’t keep up. Same deal with the bulk sand providers, landscapers and retailers who provide important products and services related to pool installation.

Metz explained that sales are soaring exponentially, with wait times extending well into July and requests coming in from as far away as Wisconsin. One woman asked Metz to overnight a pool to Long Island. Turns out, masks, hand sanitizer and toilet paper aren’t the only things in short supply.
