Message to Freehold Borough Voters From Caridad Argote-Freyre

There are so many challenges for children growing up today but also so many opportunities. I am running for the Freehold Borough Board of Education because I want to make sure that Borough students are offered these opportunities and are in a position to take advantage of them.

To that end, outreach and dialogue with parents is crucial to increase their involvement. It is this involvement which in turn helps kids want to immerse themselves in the school program and curriculum. I want to strengthen and improve outreach programs for parents so that all feel welcome and connected to the schools. In addition, in order to take advantage of all available resources, it is important to collaborate with non-profits and national educational programs and the larger Freehold Regional High School District so that the Borough children can take advantage of the rich opportunities available in Monmouth County as they progress with their education.

I have worked as an attorney since 1986 and specifically in the child welfare area, for over 25 years and have regularly witnessed the challenges faced by both children and parents in trying to secure an efficient and appropriate education. The rules necessary for a well- run organization must not be allowed to discourage and dissuade parents. Regular dialogue is crucial. As a working parent with “mommy” experience, I am very much aware that educating children involves a partnership between the school and parent. I saw firsthand how my involvement in their school and activities had a positive effect on them. Extracurricular activities whether sports, music, arts or other types of activities and clubs result in greater school engagement.

Similarly, strong connections between the school community and town administration are necessary so that together there can be fun, exciting and safe events for children especially those in the intermediate school that face negative influences such as drugs and alcohol.
I hope you will allow me the opportunity to join the Freehold Borough Board of Education. Please vote for me – I am in position two [2] on the ballot. I also ask your support for Tyler Jordan in ballot position four [4] because I know how hard he has worked for the children of Freehold Borough.
